About
Glass Ops started as a hobby project at the beginning of 2026. The original idea was inspired by a software platform I had worked with for many years in the glazing industry, particularly the way office-based systems connected with remote workers.
What began as an opportunity to revisit those ideas using modern .NET technologies gradually developed into a much larger project. It became a way to explore how a complete operations platform could be designed today, bringing together contract management, diary and booking systems, mobile working, surveys, fittings, remedials and customer communication.
The project now includes a web-based back-office system, mobile applications for field operatives and customers, insurer-facing functionality and a set of APIs that allow each part of the system to work together. It has also provided an opportunity to explore areas such as offline working, dynamic questionnaires, media capture, multi-tenant architecture and more automated surveying workflows.
A large part of the project has been about taking ideas that once required specialist or legacy systems and rethinking them using current technologies such as ASP.NET Core, .NET MAUI, Entity Framework Core and modern web interfaces.
As the project grew, so did its purpose. Glass Ops is now developed primarily as a project of general interest — somewhere to experiment with new ideas, learn new technologies, revisit long-standing industry problems and continue building upon experience gained from many years of commercial software development.
